I. Pronouncements
The General Strike Council declares that the most recent attempt by the government and university authorities to destroy our struggle through the violent eviction and imprisonment of around one thousand companeros, at the hands of the paramilitary PFP, has failed, the CGH lives, the strike continues. Monday the 14th at 10am, the General Strike Council will begin a march, from the Alvaro Obregon monument, to enter University City and re-take the Assemblies in all of the Colleges. We explicitly declare the peaceful character of our demonstration, contingents from each school will take the necessary security measures to shut out any type of provocation.
While even one of our companeros remains imprisoned and while the solution to our petitionary sheet is not being discussed at the dialogue table, in respect of the accords signed by the authorities on December 10th, there can be no classes at UNAM. We trust in the dignity of the students opposed to the strike. We know that they will not return to classes as if nothing has happened -as the repressor De la Fuente intends- at the same time that their companeros find themselves in prison for the "crime" of firmly defending their just demands and when no resolution is in sight. We call upon you all to join in the Assemblies, this coming Monday.
We demand the immediate, unconditional freedom of absolutely all of our political prisoner companeros, who are being held as hostages by the terrorists Zedillo, Labastida, Diodoro Carrasco and Juan Ramon de la Fuente, who are attempting to crush the student movement. We will not permit them to keep even one of them.
The General Strike Council reiterates that its petitionary sheet of 6 points, has added one more, the freedom of all of our political prisoners. We point out that after nearly ten months of striking, not one of our seven demands has been met, even though all are elementary and very easy to resolve. We demand the immediate solution to the 7 points of our petitionary sheet.
The General Strike Council demands that the employee of Zedillo, Juan Ramon de la Fuente, immediately renounce his position as rector. He has no business at UNAM, he who came with the sole purpose of deceiving the university community, taking advantage of its desperation in a contemptible manner, to pass the order for the repression of the student movement and the violation of the university's autonomy. He has no business at UNAM, he who called for the confrontation between university students. He has no business at UNAM, the little deputy of Diodoro Carrasco, the employee of Zedillo and Labastida, he must go.
We pronounce:
d) We call upon all university students to not attend class, if only to
validate that the repressive ends that the authorities gave to a problem is
one that concerns us all, in the same way we call upon all workers to seek
out forms of expressing your indignation and displeasure.
e) We fight for a solution by means of dialogue, as was established December
10th with the authorities, for which we vehemently reject all unilateral
ends imposed by the university authorities.
f) We demand the disappearance of the Preventative Federal Police and the
Corps of riot police, whose purpose has always been to repress social
movements.
g) To the bankers we say, stop with your alms-begging, take your dirty hands
off UNAM and return to the people of Mexico that which was stolen by
Fobaproa.
h) We call upon intellectuals and to all people in general to unite with the
CGH in its fight.
