ABOUT THIS WEBSITE
The year was 1996. Thalia had just released her single "Piel Morena" and it bombarded the radio stations. At that same time a young girl named Ruth was introduced to the concept of the internet. The internet was something interesting and terribly fascinating to her. She recalled the actress Thalia (who was simply another singer/actress to her at the time) from watching Maria Mercedes on TV and listening to her astounding vocal abilities on the radio. Ruth decided to look her up on the most popular search engine-Yahoo. Thalia's name only appeared in about 10 links (which today are not working) on Yahoo.com, and it was nowhere to be found on Ebay. She saw one website and looked at it, and decided it was nice but it needed more. More interaction among visitors would have been nice too. Ruth began to explore the art of web design as well as Thalia the person. Her triumphs, and talent caught her attention and lead her to research her some more. Ruth was a fan in the making. Note that at this time Ruth did not even know how to turn on the PC computer or where the switch was so it took about a year to figure everything out on her own. In late 1996 the concept of a Thalia website popped into her mind. But, she did not know where to start. 1997 came around. At that time, ideas on paper were set, new technology was in her hands and the spark of interest was there. In early 1997 Ruth spent her summer nights working on a site named "Thalia's Corner." A few days before everything was to be uploaded on the net, her computer crashes; why? The answer is yet not known. All the files were gone and Ruth is set back to step 1. 1997-1998 weekday nights were set to re-do Thalia's Corner. By late 1997, Thalia's Corner was up and running (w/o visitors) with about 20 images to back it up. Ruth didn't like what she saw so she decided to improve her site. With the help of investments such as a new PC, zip disks, scanners, digital camera's, snappy, and other gadgets, a cool website was on its way. In early 1998, Ruth met Renata and they put their minds together to work on the site. Summer of 1998 flew by and the final product was Planet Thalia. Planet Thalia was then launched onto the World Wide Web on September 11, 1998 (It happens to be my mothers birthday). Since then PT has had more than 150,000 visitors from many different countries. Planet Thalia has accumulated more than 1,500 images spread out throughout the site. Thanks to the words of encouragement received from tons of emails, this website has continued its services. With Thalia exerting great musical hits, one after another, the staff at Planet Thalia has been kept busy accumulating news for you. Thalia ... This is for you!
